Kindergarten Registration
There will be NO SCHOOL FOR CURRENT KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ONLY on April 28th and April 29th. Teachers will be involved with kindergarten registration. All incoming kindergarten students for the 2016-2017 school year should register for and attend kindergarten registration. Parents may register their child by calling the office at Kreft 712-366-8290.
Writing
Mrs. Spangenberg, an instructional coach at Kreft has supported learning by co-teaching during writing. The students love Mrs. Spangenberg! Ask your child to tell you about all of the "I Can" statements Mrs. Spangenberg has taught us:
- I can tell my story with pictures and words.
- I can write the whole time.
- I can write sequentially.
- I can think of my own writing ideas.
- I can write letters correctly.
- I can spell words correctly.
Math
Students have learned to play several games to practice addition and subtraction facts. Playing highest card or addition war at home with a deck of cards is a great way to practice addition and subtraction. The more fluent students are with their facts the more efficient they are with problem solving.
Reading
One of the greatest joys of teaching kindergarten is teaching students to read. I was commenting to my family over the weekend that every one of my students has made so much growth in the are of reading and reading is a skill that we use and enjoy all through our lives. Thank you for all you do to support reading at home! Learning to read is a big job and takes much effort.
