We will be attending the live performance of Pete The Cat at The Rose Theater in Omaha on Thursday, September 24th. Buses will leave at 9:00 AM and return at 11:30 AM. Due to limited seating in the theater teachers and staff will be the only chaperons attending. We look forward to this learning opportunity as Pete The Cat is one of our all time favorite characters!!
Snack
Thank you for providing healthy snacks each day. We have enjoyed cheese, grapes, fruit kabobs. apples and peanut butter, granola bars, bananas, and several other healthy choices. A low sugar snack provides us with the energy needed to complete all of our learning tasks. Our days are BUSY!!!
Homework
Thank you for taking time to have your child practice skills at home. The Friday homework folders provide an opportunity for practice of skills taught during the week. The work also allows you as parents to observe your child's understanding and independence in practicing the skills. If you have any questions about homework please do not hesitate to ask. Keep in mind that students are learning to read and write at school. All homework should be completed by students with kid writing. As kids are developing skills it is okay to copy print and use inventive spelling.
Reading and Writing
Environmental print are the words and labels we find in our daily environment. The print we see all around us is a great learning tool for learning to read and write. Reading and copying words around the home is a great activity to promote beginning reading and writing. Cereal boxes, books, magazines, cell phones, and refrigerators are some places in which print can be found. If your child is copying environmental print at home encourage them to bring and share their work with their teacher. We love to celebrate learning at home.
Math
We continue to practice counting and to develop number sense. A great way to practice number sense is to predict the number of objects before counting and then check to see how accurate the prediction was. This is a skill you can easily practice at home.
Lunch
You are welcome to join your child for lunch at school anytime. Our scheduled lunch time is 12:30 PM. It is a good idea to arrive 10 minutes early and reservations are not necessary.
