We have been busy learning and assessing progress as trimester one comes to an end. Report cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, December 2. Please carefully review the report cards and ask if you have any questions. The next opportunity to review progress will be during conferences on Feb. 8th and Feb. 11th.
Math
We will continue to work on counting, problem solving, and number sense during trimester two. We will also begin exploring shapes. Our counting practice will include efficient counting strategies such as grouping objects in sets of ten or five. Students should be able easily recognize a set of five or ten and count on to tell the total. Another efficient number strategy to work on is quickly knowing one more or one less.
Reading
Strategies for reading that students should be using include: Matching fingers to words while reading, look at the first sound in words and thinking about what makes sense.

Winter Wear
We play outside every day as long as wind chill temperatures are above zero. Please dress your child accordingly. If students have boots AND snow pants they are allowed to play in the snow. We are hoping for some fun days of playing in the snow at school!! Remember to label all winter wear as 20 pair of black snow pants, boots, mittens etc... can be tricky to organize and identify.
