I am looking forward to a new school year and getting to know all of you! I have had a wonderful summer with my family and can't wait to begin this new learning adventure. Please take some time to check out this website and contact me with any questions you may have.
Supply Night
PLEASE NOTE SUPPLY NIGHT IS THURSDAY AUG. 27 NOT TUESDAY AS STATED IN THE LETTER! I apologize for the error.
Drop-off supply night will be held on Aug. 27th, from 4-6 PM. This will be an opportunity for you to see your classroom and put away all of your school supplies. As mentioned in the welcome letter it is NOT necessary to label school supplies. Most of our supplies are accessed on an as needed basis and are used as community supplies. Your child will have a cubby to keep their pencil box which can be labeled with their name. One box of crayons and broad markers can be taken out of the cardboard box and placed in the plastic pencil box along with a scissors. All other supplies will be put away for future use as needed.
I will need to know your child's specific transportation plan for the END of the day. If your child is riding a bus home it is very important that you know the bus number and communicate that number to me. A bus tag will be attached to each child's backpack and is to remain on the backpack all year. Walkers and children who are picked up will be escorted to the gym by their teacher daily. Students will need to be signed out by an adult.
Curriculum and Homework
I will keep you informed of skills, strategies and projects being worked on at school by updating the BLOG every other week. The best way to be involved in your child's learning is to read the information and have conversations with your child about what they are learning in school. A daily folder will be sent from school to home with additional notes and completed work for your child to share with you. Please make it a daily routine to check the folder every evening and return to school daily. This is a great way for your child to begin to learn the lifeskill of responsibility.
Friday homework folders will be sent home with work to complete and return the following Monday. I understand that weekends can occasionally be filled with special activities. Please make an effort to have your child return all homework by Wed. of each week.
SNACK AND SPECIALS
We rely on your generosity to contribute daily snack for our class. Please see the link on the website with the snack and specials calendar. I ask that you please make an effort to send healthy, low sugar snacks as the purpose of snack is to fuel our minds and bodies for a most effective learning experience throughout the day. PLEASE do NOT send fruit snacks or juice boxes.
PE shoes should be worn all day on assigned PE days. We will not be taking time to change shoes throughout the day. It is also an expectation that students master the skill of tying their own shoes. Every effort to assist with this skill at home is greatly appreciated. Library books will need to be returned on library days before a new book is checked out.
