Thank you for the excellent attendance at conferences. It was great to discuss your child's progress and set goals for the remainder of the year. We began our mid-year testing today and I will send those results home early in February. Remind your child this week to do their "personal best" so those test scores reflect all we are learning!!
Snack
Please mark your calendar with your child's snack day. The calendars can be found under the SNACK link on the side menu of our Blog. With early lunch it can make for a long afternoon without a snack break. Feel free to send send snack a day or two early if you wish.
Spring Party
Our valentine party will be on Friday, February 13 at 2 PM. If you signed up at the beginning of the year to help or donate you will be contacted shortly.
I ask that EVERY student create a valentine box at home and send it to school during the week of Feb. 10th. The boxes should be large enough to hold cards and treats with an opening large enough to fit your hand in. Have fun creating. I ask that cards or treats be signed with your child's name but NOT addressed to individual students. This makes delivering much easier!!! We have 23 students in our class.
PE
The pacer test is an endurance test in which students run and count the number of times they cross the line on the gym floor. The students love this test and look forward to increasing their endurance. Our next pacer test will be this Thursday, January 22. Please remember to wear PE shoes to school. Having PE shoes on rather than changing in to them is more efficient use of our time.
Homework
I appreciate all of your effort to practice responsibility and good study habits. The students do a great job of returning homework folders and books. Remember to set aside 10-15 minutes daily to read, practice sight word,s and fact fluency. Consistent practice of skills makes a BIG difference.
Classroom Para
Mrs. Brown accepted a position outside of our district and is no longer working in our classroom. We are very pleased to welcome Michelle Schlote to our classroom. Mrs. S. comes to us from the Kansas City area and has teaching and technology experience. She will be helping with learning experiences daily and supervising lunch and recess.
