Parent teacher conferences are on Monday, September 29, and Thursday, October 2. You may view the conference schedule by clicking the link above. Please do your best to be on time for your conference so we can stay on schedule. You are welcome to bring your child with you to the conference. I look forward to meeting with you.
We will be going to see Nebraska Ballet perform Giselle at Iowa Western Community College on Monday, September 29th at 1:00 PM. This is a study trip that has been offered to us free of charge. Due to limited seating the performance will be chaperoned by Kreft staff only.
You are welcome to join your child for lunch at school anytime. Our scheduled lunch time is 11:00 AM. It is a good idea to arrive 10 minutes early and reservations are not necessary.
This week I will begin meeting with small reading groups while students practice reading to self and completing word work. On-task behavior during independent work time is critical to effective small group work with the teacher. Please talk with your child about our procedures for working by yourself:
1.) Be Quiet
2.) Stay in ONE spot
3.) Work the whole time
We will be discussing work habits at conferences.
We are working on writing about things we love and things we have done. We are learning to label our pictures and write the sounds we hear in words. Copying print in the environment is a strategy for learning to write new words.
Students have been studying the attributes of 2-D and 3-D shapes and to recognize that common objects are made up of shapes. We continue to practice counting and to develop number sense. A great way to practice number sense is to predict the number of objects before counting and then check to see how accurate the prediction was. This is a skill you can easily practice at home.
